(Naples, FL – August 15, 2022) Keep Collier Beautiful and WM (formerly Waste Management) are pleased to recognize the winners of the annual calendar art contest, organized in partnership with Collier County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Department and Collier County Schools.

To celebrate the winners, WM of Collier County printed the calendar cover on signs to display on its 120+ waste and recycling collection vehicles that service the community. The front-cover winner was Valeria Avila, a Corkscrew Elementary School first grader who was taught by Adele Agler. WM Senior District Manager, Larry Berg, hopes that more children are inspired to get engaged with Keep Collier Beautiful and project our wildlife from litter and debris.

“We know that when children have a voice and a way to get involved in protecting our environment, they can have an impact for generations to come,” said Berg.

This year, Keep Collier Beautiful received more than 1,000 entries from Collier County students ranging from Kindergarten through High School. Volunteer judges selected the top 14 winning entries for the front cover, back cover, and each month of the year. Additionally, 12 runners-up were recognized for their efforts. The winning pieces will be featured in KCB’s 2023 calendar, which will be released at the beginning of September. Community members can request a copy of the calendar by sending a request to recycling@colliercountyfl.gov.

Registration is now open for Keep Collier Beautiful’ s annual International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 17th. Learn more and register at www.KeepCollierBeautiful.com.
